Corrosion prevention
To protect against corrosion and oxidation the type of wear as well as the environmental conditions such as temperature, pressure, aggressive media etc. must be considered during the material selection.

For corrosion protection the following are mainly used:
Aluminum, copper and alloys, titanium, stainless steel, chrome, nickel and alloys, chromium carbide alloys, ceramics
(Al2O3, Cr2O3, ZrO2, TiO2).
Corrosion prevention can be combined with high hardness by mixing/alloying different materials for example ceramics with metallic materials.
